Add Fable, Killer Instinct and Battletoads to that list of dead irrelevant IP coming back or have comeback.Don't understand, who cares about franchise relevance? Perfect Dark was as dead as they come, should they not have greenlit that project?I'd kill for Banjo 3 but that IP tanked with nuts and bolts. Doesn't mean they shouldn't give it another try.
Judging by what we got with PT, there's still life in Silent Hill. The real concern is whether Bloober has what it takes to realize that potential

That's lost on some people and no I'm not about to put 100% of faith in Microsoft to be like get off cod go make crash and spyro again…people been crying about banjo for a decade plus. It's a wait and see and it's gonna take way longer than this generation for it to change. That's a large ass company(companies) it's gonna take a WHILEI mean there is no way a game like Forspoken doesn't bomb on Xbox after it's 2 year exclusivity runs out. The JRPG genre is gonna have a tough battle growing on Xbox when the biggest games don't even come to the system for years.Probably because they have like 8 studios working on one franchise and the other 2 biggest parts of the company are PC and mobile focused.
The console focused part of Activision has barely any variety. They bought a struggling publisher because of massive workplace toxicity problems, I ain't gonna appreciate that.

I feel like I've been reading about Silent Hill for 5 years lolAlso let's not act like Silent Hill is suddenly super relevant. There are reasons why the franchise never continued at some point.
At least Sony now get to show it finally at their show and prove their many insiders right ;), and Bloober will now become godtier devs ;p

I'm all-in for resurrecting old IP, relevant or not (hell, I publicly asked for a Mech Assault reboot). But I've been reading about Silent Hill for what feels like an eternity now. It gets boring. Anyway. I do realize it's a very hardcore-bubble focused game and as such creates interest … here.Don't understand, who cares about franchise relevance? true, length of exclusivity is a variable, as well as how known the IP is, and how good it is. Forespoken is one I think would/will fail cause of how long exclusivity is, and new the IP is and how poorly its been showing.

Thinking about the rest of the year, it's possible the ABK deal closes by the end of the year since they said fiscal 2023. There could be a massive Gamepass drop like we saw with Bethesda.
very possible.

Going by this week's Microsoft Rewards on Xbox poll, we're a small percentage, but us Blue Dragon fans exist!Nobody cares about blue dragon but me and I still want that revived
I'm watching the most recent DF Retro Play, playing the demo disc from the Xbox Official magazine March 2002 issue, and John Linneman is reemphasizing how significant the Japanese support was on the original Xbox, and he's not talking predominantly JRPGs.

Nothing sounds more unappealing than "Phantom Dust". I'm sorry. Let it go.
Have to agree, while I'd have a hard time being against anything jp, PD... would be a GaaS game that I would have zero interest in.
Much better to meet what people are missing on xbox, stuff like Lost Odyssey.

- #13,221
The game model was ahead of its time and would work perfectly in today's GaaS model and Game Pass.Nothing sounds more unappealing than "Phantom Dust". I'm sorry. Let it go.

- #13,222
I mean everything at e3 is "fake souped up gameplay" most hardcore understands that. We know it's the most polished thing they have at the time. It's been happening forever pointing it out now does nothing. Fact is they need to show some gameplay
Yeah man i agree with you lol its why the argument about polished demos doesnt really make any sense

- #13,223
How about just ports of the last two games to modern systems?Nobody cares about blue dragon but me and I still want that revived

- #13,224
... naw... just like how Bleeding Edge didn't pan out.The game model was ahead of its time and would work perfectly in today's GaaS model and Game Pass.
Seriously, the name "Phantom Dust" just sounds corny and lame. Like a Yu Gi Oh card. Hardest pass.

I disagree but it's all in the execution.... naw... just like how Bleeding Edge didn't pan out.Seriously, the name "Phantom Dust" just sounds corny and lame. Like a Yu Gi Oh card. Hardest pass.
Phantom Dust was also a JRPG, so a reboot would also have a strong single player RPG campaign.

Yeah some times the Internet is like "If a new Silent Hill Game drops the world will stop spinning" But its actually just an nostalgic franchise in a hardcore genre.I'm all-in for resurrecting old IP, relevant or not (hell, I publicly asked for a Mech Assault reboot). But I've been reading about Silent Hill for what feels like an eternity now. It gets boring. Anyway. I do realize it's a very hardcore-bubble focused game and as such creates interest … here.
A "good" Silent Hill needs to be arty, edgy and not designed for mass audience. You can do mainstream horror but then you lose the USP of Silent Hill.

- #13,230
The "no one but the hardcore cares about silent hill" thing kinda reminds me that people said that about Crash too which went to sell more than 10 million copies of the remaster trilogy alone lol
Some people love to dismiss the importance of certain games for some reason... jp games overall have a lot of this effect, just be end up breaking new records all the time nowadays.

Total sales of all Silent Hill games ever (17 games): 8.4 million.
Crash sales on PS1:
Crash 1 - 6.8 million
Crash 2 - 7.6 million
Crash Warped - 7.1 million
The two series aren't in the same league at all.

Would be cool, but realistically that's a helluva lot of hopium. I'm mostly talking about the acquisition passing this year more than a bunch of Activision games dropping into Game Pass upon completion. This acquisition is going to be a tricky bastard to push through….and it will very likely take most of its allotted timeframe to get it done.
The realization of that will only happen once games -- both exclusives or Day One Game Pass launches -- start to hit regularly. And just like it takes time for Bethesda right now, that process will take many years for ABK.
Yup. These big moves Xbox has made, and is in the process of making….they are long term plays. Which I think is frustrating for many in the "I need it NOW" times we are living in.

the virtuous cycleXbox paying Bloober for a couple of timed exclusive games that were mediocre as hell to potentially PS getting timed exclusivity on the one game from Bloober that people will actually care about is very funny.

- #13,235
My sauce told me they are going to make a new Banjo-Kazooie once they are done with both.4chan said Toys for Bob is making Crash 5 and a new Spyro.Believe

Asian games, like jrpgs and such.everything on the list feels very samey as they are all western.
Zero self-awareness

- #13,245
Viva Pinata was never relevant and still should be revived.
yes! I need my game where I force breed animals to then slaughter them to sell their insides

Would be awesome.I think a Gears collection featuring a "best of" multiplayer would be great.
